Duties/Responsibilities:
Within assigned units, the ICT Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
·Design and manage deployment Information Technology and Telecommunications systems including budgeting and planning in accordance with WFP coporate standards;
·Integrate Information Technology and Telecommunications systems and ensure appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wide area network issues;
·Maintain, upgrade or enhance existing systems including troubleshooting and providing continuining user support including keeping stocks of spare parts and equipment to support the repair and maintenance of Information Technology and Telecommunications equipment;
·Develop and maintain appropriate Information Technology and Telecommunications contingency capacity in the region, prepare and regularly update contingency and plans while ensuring that all offices are always adequately equipped;
·Prepare operational plans and identify resource requirements at the onset of an emergency operation;
·Collaborate with colleagues in the Information and Communications Technology division to define corporate Information Technology and Telecommunications training policies and programs including preparation of training modules and materials and ensure staff are appropriately trained;
·Develop technical specifications needed to facilitate procurement of TC/IT equipment and services at the least cost possible and in keeping with rules and regulations stipulated in Non-Food Procurement Manual;
·Track and monitor Information Technology and Telecommunications investments and recurrent costs, propose and implement methods to increase cost-efficiency;
·Identify and test new software and hardware for improving and upgrading system performance; install any technology upgrades as required;
·Ensure effective coordination with other UN agencies in order to maximise possibilities of inter agency collaboration in the field of Information Technology and Telecommunications;
·Prepare TC/IT tender documents and carry out technical evaluation of bids and proposals received;
·Negotiate for TC/IT services with local service providers;
·Supervise staff/technicians and pperform other related duties as required;

Qualifications:
University degree, preferably in electronic or technical and/or communications engineering, computer technology or any science/logic related discipline. .
Required experience:
§5 years of experience in related field work.
§Fluency in both oral and written English and knowledge of local languages.
§Microsoft Excel, Power Pointy and Word skills are required, Skills in data base design and management as well as a basic understanding of statistics will also be a strong advantage.
