Vacancy: Translator / Interpretor (2 Positions)

St John of God Healthcare (SJGHC) supports the Ministry of Health programs in Timor Leste through it’s National Nursing Development Program, National Pathology Development Program and a Community Health Program (Bakhita Centre Clinic, Ermera).

SJGHC is currently looking for two experienced Translator/Interpreters to work with the Country Coordinator and various SJOG team members. The positions will be based at the Dili National Hospital (HNGV) and may require travel to regional areas from time to time.

Vacancy:

Translator / Interpreter (2 positions)

Location: Dili, Timor-Leste

Closing Date: March 11, 2011

Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Assist with performing translation and interpretation services as necessary for the operations of St John of God Healthcare in Timor Leste

These tasks include:

§ Organise, attend, translate and interpret at meetings between SJGHC staff and stakeholders including representatives of the HNGV, MOH and other organisations

§ Provide interpretation for SJGHC program staff conducting interviews with Timorese staff and/or patients or public

§ Provide interpretation for SJGHC staff when conducting training sessions or presentations

§ Provide written translation services of meetings, documents and presentations

· Other administrative duties as required by the Country Coordinator.

Key Selection Criteria:

ESSENTIAL

· Excellent oral and written Tetun and Bahasa Indonesian

· Excellent oral and written English

· Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint

· Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative

· Possess a Timorese motor cycle or vehicle driver’s licence

· A commitment to and an understanding of the Vision, Mission and Philosophy of SJGHC

DESIRABLE

· An undergraduate Degree or Diploma

· Previous experience of working for an NGO

· Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish
