Agri-business Assistant

Job Vacancy

The European Commission-financed Rural Development Program Phase III (RDP III) in Timor Leste which is managed by Landell Mills Limited (LML) working in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries (MAF) and Ministry of Infrastructure (MoI) in the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste is seeking potential and well-experienced candidates for the following position based in Same, Manufahi District:

Agri-business Assistant

Term of Appointment: 1 year with a 3-month probation period (with possible extension)

Duty Station MAF Office in Same, Manufahi

Report to: Agri-business Team Leader

Duties

Ø Share all activities and tasks of the Agri-Business Group with them, including planning, budgeting, organising, implementing and monitoring the specific activities of the Group, as well as coordinating / collaborating with the other Groups in the programme team

Ø For the development of agricultural services, including private services (businesses) and community services, the Agri-Business Assistant will contribute to the following tasks:

o Preparing and implementing a sensitization campaign (through village meetings) towards candidate business persons and community groups;

o Screening initial applications by candidate business persons / community groups for supporting their micro-projects; participating in the further steps of selection;

o Assisting in the training of candidate business persons / community groups in business management / development, and financial and group management;

o Assisting the selected business persons / community groups for the elaboration of their business plan and writing of their project, including details of operation, investments, markets, profitability and financing;

o Participating to the final review and approval/rejection of micro-project proposals submitted to the PMU by the selected business persons / community groups;

o Assisting the TA Contract & Finance Expert in the procurement of equipment and goods to be provided by the programme to the approved micro-projects;

o Supervising the implementation of micro-projects, and assisting the beneficiaries in this implementation; assisting for further training of beneficiaries;

o Final handing-over of equipment to the Beneficiaries

Qualifications

· Graduated in agro-economy, economy, business administration or equivalent;

· At least 3 years experience in the development of small/medium enterprises/businesses, preferably in rural areas and agriculture sector;

· Good understanding of the development tasks and approaches in rural areas, especially when dealing with Beneficiaries;

· Demonstrated strong team spirit, and excellent inter-personal relationship skills ;

· Good professional records in the preparation of concise reports in English ;

· Good standard of English and experience of English - Tetun/Bahasa translation;

· Fully computer literate using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
