POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT



1. AQUACULTURE EXTENSIONIST



ACDI/VOCA is an international development organization seeking to hire an experienced Aquaculture Extensionist for its U.S. Department of Agriculture funded Food for Progress Program. Position will be field-based in Dili, Manatuto, Baucau, Liquica and Bobonaro districts and requires frequent travel to mud crabs and milkfish cultivation project locations. The position will carry out technical-extension support and community activation tasks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

§ Conducting regular and extensive community meetings and project awareness for mud crab and milkfish cultivation.

§ Leading the process of selecting, mobilizing and forming community groups for mud crabs and milkfish cultivation and technical training.

§ Assisting in the design and development of mud crab and milkfish cultivation techniques, practices and training materials.

§ Providing regular training and technical extension support to the community groups on a daily basis.

§ Planning and organizing mud crab and milkfish production in district locations.

§ Regular supervision, follow up and assessment of targeted beneficiary results, including data and information collection.

§ Environmental monitoring of mud crab and milkfish production.



Ideal candidate should have a relevant academic degree or related training in aquaculture, biology or fisheries, and a minimum of three years aquaculture or fisheries experience. Previous experience working in an international organization is preferred. Candidate would ideally have:

§ Knowledge and experience with mud crab or milkfish production.

§ General understanding of fisheries and agriculture development in Timor-Leste.

§ Excellent organizational and community activation experience.

§ Excellent communication and training skills.

§ Knowledge of environmental issues.

§ Ability to plan, establish and follow a time-bound work plan.

§ Ability to manage field-related training, technical extension and implementation of mud crabs and milkfish cultivation.

§ Ability to administer surveys and beneficiary assessment tools.

§ Fluent in Tetum. Knowledge of English language helpful.

§ Highly motivated and hardworking, with an honest work ethic.



Salary will be based on candidate’s experience, skills, education, and work history.

2. TRAINING COORDINATOR



ACDI/VOCA is an international development organization seeking to hire an experienced Training Coordinator for its U.S. Department of Agriculture funded Food for Progress Program. Successful candidate will plan, coordinate and implement training activities to support mud crab and milk fish production and cooperative development in approximately 20 coastal villages. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

§ Identifying training needs and a learning approach to support mud crab and milkfish producer groups and cooperative development beneficiaries.

§ Developing training plans, curricula, methodologies and materials for targeted producer groups.

§ Organizing and coordinating technical training in 20 coastal villages for mud crab and milkfish production and cooperative development.

§ Achieving program training objectives, including gender specific strategies to ensure broad female participation in training.

§ Developing technical handbooks and reference materials.

§ Evaluating training results and preparing systematic changes as needed to training activities.

§ Contributing to reports and compiling, producing and publishing information about mud crab and milk fish production and cooperative development.



Ideal candidate should have a relevant academic degree or related training knowledge, and a minimum of three years work experience in community training or human resources development. Previous experience working in an international organization is preferred. The candidate should also possess:

§ Training experience in Timor-Leste.

§ Strong planning and organizational skills.

§ Strong knowledge and experience on participatory training methods.

§ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

§ Strong verbal, reading and writing skills in Tetum, and proficient English language comprehension.

3. MARKETING DIRECTOR



ACDI/VOCA is an international development organization seeking to hire an experienced Marketing Director for its U.S. Department of Agriculture funded Food for Progress Program. Successful candidate will oversee the marketing, promotion and development of mud crabs. Position is based in Dili, Timor-Leste with some local and international travel to promote and market mud crabs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

§ Developing and executing a marketing and export strategy for mud crabs, including market surveys, business and marketing plans and sales methods.

§ Managing domestic and export marketing and sales of mud crabs and possibly milkfish with producer groups.

§ Developing promotional materials and events for mud crabs, including brochures, posters, advertisement material, press releases, etc.

§ Establishing and maintaining good relationship with producer groups, restaurants, hotels and buyers through regular contact or communication, market promotion events, sharing of information through social media for the marketing of mud crab and milkfish.

§ Contribute to reports and publication about mud crab and milkfish production



Ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s or academic degree in Business, including relevant experience in marketing and public relations, with a minimum of five years’ work experience in marketing and sales. Previous experience working in an international organization is preferred. Candidate shall possess:

* Excellent knowledge and experience in marketing, promotion and sales.
* Strong communication skills and knowledge in public relations and marketing strategies.
* Strong business skills.
* Excellent knowledge and experience in designing tools and methods for undertaking market information survey.
* Knowledge in social media communication.
* Proficient verbal and written command of Tetum, Bahasa Indonesia and English language.
* High integrity, reliability and honest work-ethics.
