CEPAD is seeking qualified national candidates for the position of Researcher for the Programme of Research and Dialogue for Peace (PRDP) with attractive salary and working conditions.

Background:

CEPAD (the Centre of Studies for Peace and Development) an independent national NGO and Interpeace (the International Peacebuilding Alliance) have jointly implemented PRDP (the Programme of Research and Dialogue for Peace) since 2007 to help break the cycle of violence and create a climate in which the people of Timor-Leste can identify and address priority issues challenging peace in a non-violent and sustainable manner, through countrywide processes of action-oriented dialogue across Timor-Leste’s thirteen districts.

The role

Work in coordination with the Audio Visual Research Team and District Liaison Officers to ensure the effective implementation of the programme activities through efficient logistical preparation. Participate in the facilitation of PRDP participatory action research dialogues, workshops and consultations and accurate and impartial collection of data. Collate and process data collected at PRDP activities and write up high quality reports in Tetum and English in coordination with the Research Team.

Professional Experience and skills:

Excellent Analytical and Writing Skills including drafting, writing and presentation skills in Tetum, English, Bahasa Indonesia

Excellent knowledge of the socio-political, military and economic situation of Timor-Leste
Strong experience in research, writing and analysis

Graduate degree in political science or other relevant disciplines

Personal competencies:

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

Ability to work under pressure and handle multi-task assignments is necessary

Strong commitment and understanding of the role of research and dialogue for the building of peace in Timor-Leste
